Bands With New Directions

The Long Blondes have announced their split, which has seemed inevitable really since that cancelled tour: "We have decided to call it a day. The main reason for this is that I suffered from a stroke in June and unfortunately I do not know when / if I will be well enough to play guitar again. On behalf of the band I'd like to say a big thank you to anyone who ever came to one of our shows, bought one of our records or danced to one of our songs in a club. Thank you, if it wasn't for you the whole thing would have been pointless. Finally on a personal note, thanks for all your well wishing messages. Dorian xxx"

Having recorded The Streets' last album this year, Mike Skinner has gone in the self help book direction. You can learn about it at Myspace.com/thesteets.

Bands With Videos

Bloc Party have taken over The Guardian Online this week, with 'Cooking With Bloc Party' films and some advice from "your trusty agony aunt, one Mr. Kele Okereke."

This is a sneak preview of The Cribs' 'Live at the Brudenell' Christmas DVD. It was a super nostalgic gig, where they performed old songs on old guitars wearing old clothes (The Cribs' jeans really aren't the type for lasting), at Christmas time.

This is Lightspeed Champion recording and unleashing the guitar whore that was Dev Met from Test Icicles:

Bands With Things To Say

The View, who have been very much silent for the past year, have posted a new blog about some sort of gig [I think, but I didn't really read it properly] at Myspace.com/dryburgh.

These are Foals' pluses and minuses on their UK tour, the Manchester date of which is reviewed at Myspace.com/youvedonethiswrong.

ThankYOU to everyone who came to the shows on our UK tour.
we had an amazing time, we feel happy and cleansed by it. we are home now, missing the new friends we made and the BUZZZZ of playing but happy to have a rest.
gonna start writing some loops tonight.
i just watched Burn After Reading..i wouldn't bother. it felt like a film that was about itself.

- indian summer flu in Newcastle.

+ getting to handpaint our Holy Fuck split 12" everyday. like a rock n' roll after school club. felt tip pens and everything.

- trying to tell people about TECATO GUSTO to no avail. a hispanic explanation of addiction . it can be expressed as an "interior psychic worm"... ravenous, cannibalistic munching through yr mind always requiring more.
