Michael Eavis is pointing to thousands of ladybirds taking up residence in Glastonbury as a sure sign of a hot summer, shaping up for much better weather than last year's disastrous affair. The full line up for this year's event was released this week. I've put the highlights in a separate blog due to the sheer volume of acts. Get the full line up at Glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/performance.

50 new acts were added to the Reading & Leeds line up this week. For the same reasons as Glastonbury, the best are in a separate blog. Get the full line up at Leedsfestival.com/lineup, or change Leeds to Reading if that's where you're heading.

If you want to go the the festivals for free, Oxfam are now recruiting for festival campaigners. Opportunities are available at Glastonbury, Bestival, Leeds, etc. You have to wear a brightly coloured thing and hassle people for their email addresses, but that's not all the time - you still get to see loads of bands. You can apply at Oxfam.org.uk/get_involved/stewarding.

Bloc Party have announced their playing at the following festivals this year: Lollapalooza, Chicago, IL; Fillmore Theatre of Living Arts, Philadelphia, PA; Webster Hall, New York NY; V Festival, Baltimore, MD; Highfield Festival, Hohenfelden, DE; Marlay Park, Dublin; Reading Festival; Leeds Festival; V Festival, Toronto, CA. So a load of foreign dates basically, but still.

Free Futureheads Downloads

You can download two versions of The Futureheads' comeback single, 'Beginning Of The Twist' from Rcrdlbl.com/artists/The_Futureheads/music.

The first is live from King's College, London. It starts off quite funny sounding and quiet, but pretty much turns into a more enthusiastic version of the single.
The second is 'The Futureheads vs. Atephoald' - so a mash up. It's a bit overwhelming with noise and percussion, and by the end the vocals are all fused together and jumpy, but certainly worth a listen if you're curious on that sort of thing.

Good Shoes Blog

A man called Carl told Good Shoes to start a blog, so they did.
The unusually titled 'Boxers Baby' will feature clips of new songs, videos, photos and whatever else else occurs from their song writing and recording ventures. Rhys put a picture of his feet and some green... stuff up there last night.
Have a look at Goodshoes-theboxersbaby.blogspot.com.

Ting Tings Soundtrack iTunes Ad

iTunes have selected "Shut Up and Let me Go" as the song for their new advert - so local kids, The Ting Tings, are all over American TV.
Katie says: "It's really exciting, we love the iPod adverts, they look great. It's really funny how we got it... we played South by South West in Austin, Texas and I fainted onstage. We had another gig an hour later and we almost pulled out of it because I was so ill. We managed to play three songs and by the last one I was shaky again, but apple loved it. We so nearly didn't play that gig. So glad we did now ( : "

Does It Offend You Video

Here's a video from the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, California, that captures some of the madness that is 'We Are Rockstars' live:

Cajun Dance Party B Side

You can now listen to 'The Parachute', the B-side to Cajun Dance Party's new single, 'The Race', (in full and everything) at Cajundanceparty.com/releases by scrolling down a bit and clicking on the little pink speaker next to the track.
It's all pianos and soft; a slow song to contrast the faster single I suppose.

Charity Single Featuring Drew McConnell

Babyshambles bassist, Drew McConnell, recently performed on the 'Consequences' track for the homeless charity Crisis, and the single is out now as a CD, limited edition 7" picture disc & download. The track features all sorts of people, including Paul Weller, Beth Ditto, Supergrass, The Enemy, Graham Coxon, Ed Harcourt and New Young Pony Club, and is built around the parlour game ‘consequences’, in which participants write a story or draw a figure without seeing each other’s input, so each part of the song – drums, bass, guitar, vocals, etc. – was recorded by artists unaware of what had been laid down before (however it seems very unlikely that all of these parts weren't made to fit together afterwards). The song itself isn't all that great, but all proceeds from the record go to Crisis – (Crisisconsequences.com).
Here's a very "Hello, my name is...", Live Aid-style video:

Hadouken! Live Album Stream

Yesterday, there was a live streaming of Hadouken!'s debut album from a secret location in London, accompanied by a live webchat. So you could have gone to Myspace.com/hadoukenuk from 7pm to watch it. However, if you're as slow as I am, you probably missed this short notice announcement. But never fear, you can watch it again and read the webchat here:

Johnny Foreigner Drop Out Of ¡Forward, Russia! Show

This is a bit late, but provides an explanation of absense.
"We're not playing Manchester with Forward Russia! tonight [27th April]. Because we lost our passports. Because were dicks. We've spent the whole day making broken English with various little hitlersssss in order to get some photocopy of a fax of a form to allow us back into our own stupid country. Kerrang! bizarrely counts as photo-id. Sorry manchester people. If you bought a ticket to come see us, tell us and we'll somehow make it up to you."

Write Lyrics For Pull Tiger Tail

There is a competition on Bebo where you could win the chance to get your lyrics made into a song for Pull Tiger Tail - you write the words, they write the music - as well as £100 worth of Penguin Books. The lyrics should be on the theme of friendship lost and the writer of best entry will travel down to London to watch the song being recorded. To enter, send your lyrics by Bebo mail to Bebo.com/blackrabbitsummer by 20th June.
There are lyric-writing tips from the band and the author of the book the whole competition is in celebration of, at Spinebreakers.co.uk.
