New Bloc Party Single

Bloc Party gave the exclusive first play of their new single, 'Mercury' to Zane Lowe at Radio 1. You can listen to it again at bbc.co.uk/radio1/zanelowe. It's definitely carrying on in the direction of 'Flux' - very electronically done, but with horns and lots of repetition. It certainly makes live shows a curious prospect though.

Kubichek! Split

Kubichek! announced the other day that they are "no more". Apparently "after Alan left we did a few shows, but to be honest it just didn't feel as though it was what we wanted. So we thank all of you for coming to the shows, buying the records and supporting us over the past four years, you've been amazing."

Something has come out of it though, in the form of a new band called Black Flashes. There are a few demos up at Myspace.com/weareblackflashes. The vocal style's different to Kubichek!, and there's more of an industrial, electronic vibe. But there are similarities there.
